Green Tips

We live in co-creation and re-creation with the Divine, and in reverence for all Life. We see and honor divinity in all forms of Life, and in Earth itself. Because of our love for the Spirit of Life we seek to examine the way we affect all Life, and we strive to live in harmony and justice with all Life and the Earth that sustains it.

In keeping with the Seventh Principle of Unitarian Universalism, and the 2006 UUA Statement of Conscience on the Threat of Global Warming/Climate Change, we will seek out, adopt, and implement environmentally responsible practices that respect and protect the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

We choose to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle, consciously lessening our footprint on the earth and setting an example for others to follow. We will strive to adopt and follow green policies and practices relating to all aspects of church life and operation.

Accordingly, the mission of the Green Sanctuary Committee is to:

a) Bring our congregation into conformity with the "green" guidelines of the Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth, and acquire certification by them;
b) Educate our congregation on how to adopt "green" practices in their private and public lives;
c) Encourage the adoption of "green" practices by the general public, and
d) Promote the development of "green" public resources, such as, conservation programs, recycling systems, renewable energy, etc.

Note: "green" means environmentally friendly actions that support life now, and in the future, in a sustainable manner.
